Terms of Use

Last updated: 10 September 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of Stratfy, a browser-based trading strategy backtester available at stratfy.io. By using Stratfy you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the software.

1. Who we are

Stratfy is simulation software for traders. It is not a broker, a dealer, an exchange, an investment adviser, a portfolio manager or a financial institution, and it is not registered as any of those with any regulator. It does not hold client funds, place orders, or connect to a brokerage account on your behalf.

2. What Stratfy does

You describe a trading strategy in ordinary language. An AI model of your choosing converts that description into explicit entry, exit, stop-loss and filter rules. Those rules are then simulated against historical daily price data, with commission assumptions applied, and stress-tested across Monte Carlo resamples. Charts, metrics and Python exports are generated from that simulation.

Everything described above is a model of the past. It is not a prediction, a signal service, or an instruction to trade.

3. Backtested results are hypothetical

Read this before you trade

Every result Stratfy shows you is hypothetical. Backtested and simulated performance is calculated with the benefit of hindsight, on a strategy that was defined after the price history was already known. No real money was ever at risk in producing it, and no such account was ever traded.

Hypothetical results are subject to limitations that live trading is not. Stratfy does not model slippage or spread at all: every fill is taken at the modelled price, with no execution cost beyond commission. Hypothetical results also cannot fully account for gaps, partial fills, borrow availability, halts, dividends and corporate actions, data errors and survivorship bias in historical price series, changes in market regime, taxes, or your own behaviour under drawdown. A strategy adjusted until it looks excellent on past data — overfitting — is the single most common reason a promising backtest fails in the market.

Past performance does not guarantee or indicate future results. Monte Carlo bands, ruin probabilities, Sharpe ratios and equity curves are estimates produced from assumptions, not measurements of what will happen. You should assume that live results will be worse than backtested results, and you should never risk capital you cannot afford to lose.

4. No financial advice

Nothing produced by Stratfy — including parsed rules, metrics, charts, exported code and any text generated by an AI model — is investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, or a recommendation, solicitation or offer to buy or sell any security, derivative or other instrument. No content is tailored to your objectives, financial situation or risk tolerance, and we do not know them.

Trading involves substantial risk of loss, including the risk of losing more than your initial deposit where leverage or derivatives are involved. Decisions you make with Stratfy are yours alone. Consider consulting a licensed professional in your jurisdiction before acting on any idea you test here.

5. Your AI provider key and costs

Stratfy requires you to supply your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. That key is held in your browser's memory for the current session only and sent with each request through our Cloudflare Worker proxy, which forwards it to the provider you chose and does not log, store or cache it. Your use of the provider is governed by that provider's own terms and pricing, and the provider bills you directly for it.

Stratfy itself is free. We do not charge you, resell AI capacity, or subsidise your usage. You are responsible for keeping your key secret, for the charges incurred on it, and for revoking it if you believe it has been exposed.

6. No account, and your data lives with you

There is no sign-up, password or email requirement. Your saved strategies are stored in your own browser's local storage, and your API key is kept only in memory for the current session. Clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching device or browser will remove them, and we cannot recover them for you. If your work matters to you, export it.

7. Market data

Historical price data is obtained from third-party sources and is provided as-is for research and simulation. It may contain gaps, errors, stale values, unadjusted corporate actions or revisions, and it is not real-time, not guaranteed for accuracy, and not suitable for order execution, valuation, accounting, tax reporting or any regulated purpose.

8. Acceptable use

9. Availability and changes

Stratfy is provided on a best-effort basis. Features, data coverage, calculation methods and this software may change, break or be discontinued at any time without notice, and no result you obtained previously is guaranteed to be reproducible later.

10. Intellectual property

The Stratfy name, interface, design and code are ours and are protected by copyright and other rights. Strategy descriptions you write remain yours. Python code Stratfy exports for you is yours to use, modify and run, at your own risk.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

Stratfy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that any calculation, metric, parsed rule or exported script is correct, complete or suitable for your purposes.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any trading or investment loss, lost profit, lost opportunity, loss of data, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of Stratfy or reliance on anything it produces — including any loss caused by an error in a calculation, a parsed rule, market data, or an AI model's output. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the software (which is zero) or the minimum amount the applicable law requires.

13. Indemnity

You agree to hold us harmless from claims, losses and expenses arising out of your use of Stratfy, your trading decisions, your use of exported code, or your breach of these Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and the courts of the Federal District (Distrito Federal, DF), Brazil, have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights available to you where you live.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the "last updated" date above shows when it changed. Continuing to use Stratfy after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
